„Pott & Spicy“: RVR und Scholz & Friends starten YouTube-Format

Mit scharfen Fragen, scharfen Currywürsten und prominenten Gästen

Over currywurst of varying levels of spiciness, celebrity guests talk about their lives in the Ruhr region. The new show “Pott & Spicy” is part of the Regional Association of the Ruhr’s location marketing campaign, developed by Scholz & Friends, and focuses on social-first content.

As part of the campaign “The Ruhr Region – Here, Everything Stays Different,” the Regionalverband Ruhr (RVR) and the agency Scholz & Friends are presenting “Pott & Spicy,” an interview series that combines entertainment with location marketing and is aimed primarily at young professionals. At the iconic snack bar “Die Currywurst” in Wanne-Eickel, which embodies the region’s down-to-earth yet diverse culture, comedian Björn von Morgenstern speaks with prominent guests who are not originally from the Ruhr region but have consciously chosen to make their lives there. For each question, currywurst sausages of increasing heat levels are served, adding a special spice to the conversation. This allows viewers to get to know the guests and the Ruhr region from a very personal and authentic perspective.

Kicking things off is Euro 2020 ambassador and former BVB pro Neven Subotić, a guest on “Pott & Spicy.” He talks about his sense of belonging to the Ruhr region, his soccer career, his social activism, and why he has made the Ruhr region his adopted home. “Here, people meet on equal footing, work together, and can make a difference—that creates a bond. I can totally relate to that. And if you take a closer look, you’ll quickly realize: The Ruhr region is surprisingly green—quite different from what its old industrial image might suggest,” says Subotić. In future episodes, actor Martin Brambach and his wife Christine Sommer, as well as author Jule Weber, will also be interviewed.

Benjamin Waldt, Creative Director at Scholz & Friends: “With Björn von Morgenstern, we’ve secured a true Ruhr region original and one of the hottest comedy newcomers as our host. The chemistry between the guests and the host is in itself a form of advertising for the Ruhr region—with a dash of humor and a touch of spice, it becomes a format that stands out in the sea of advertising.”

The production included long-form segments of up to 20 minutes, six short clips, and supplementary social media assets featuring behind-the-scenes footage. The content will be distributed via the RVR’s channels, the guests’ platforms, and accompanying paid campaigns.
